Get
Started

Just getting started with your beach volleyball journey? p1440 has the resources to help get you where you need to be.
Starting a new endeavor, like beach volleyball can be a challenging thing. It’s important to have a support system in place before you begin. Whether that’s your parents, friends, teammates, coaches or mentors, having even one person who will help see you through your goals is a vital aspect of getting started.

p1440 is fortunate enough to be able to provide our athletes with the resources and tools they need to achieve their goals and offer support along the way.

Steps to
Getting Started

Step 1

Reach out to our p1440 team if you’re interested in becoming a part of our p1440 family. You can do so in the Get Involved page.

Step 2

Research your local beach volleyball clubs. If you live somewhere near the beach, you may be presented with many options of clubs you could join. The best way to go about this is by contacting their club director and asking if you can join one of their practices. See what club resonates with you best and where you feel you will make the most improvement at. If you live somewhere far from the beach, there may be limited options of clubs in your area or even state. Do your research, ask friends you may have who play beach volleyball if they can take you to one of their practices, and see if it’s something you are willing to stick with. Once you find a club you like, sign up and get to work!

Step 3

Consistency is key. If you are passionate about beach volleyball and you have goals to play in college or professionally, you must commit to the grind! Show up to your practices and training sessions properly fueled, with a positive mindset and lots of good energy.

Step 4

Sign up for tournaments. Beach volleyball is a rapidly growing sport and because of this, there are many tournament opportunities all over the country. The beach volleyball season typically lasts from February through August. The majority of tournaments take place in these months, however, you will find some clubs will host specific tournaments during the fall and winter months as well. Find a tournament you want to play in, recruit a friend or teammate and go compete!

Step 5

Go to camps. Once you really get into beach volleyball, it’s important to sign up for camps. Some camps are hosted by beach volleyball clubs while others are offered by p1440 as well as colleges with beach programs. It’s important to branch out and participate in camps because they not only teach you skills in more detail, but you also have the chance to meet new people and coaches that can help take you to the next level.
